Prolific music producer and record executive Rick Rubin co-founded his first label, Def Jam, out of his 1984 dorm room at New York University. Crimson tide, moon time, shark week. Whatever you call it, many of us have a love/hate relationship with our periods. Sometimes it is painful, sometimes you don’t even see it coming, and sometimes it is a relief! For some, it can be a celebration that you don’t get your period anymore and other times, for those that are trying to have a baby, it’s a reminder of how badly you want to conceive.
My first real job was as a paid intern for Planned Parenthood. I was 13 and hadn’t gone “all the way.” I was working in the office at the Santa Monica clinic in Los Angeles in the thick of STD testing with anti-abortionists picketing outside—plunged into the deep end of my “professional” sex education.
Breathe in. Breathe out. Breath is everything, and when you practice awareness of this powerful life force, you gradually gain knowledge and experience of how to use your breath as a tool for relaxation, healing and of course…. enhanced pleasure!
